Description

The turtle watch excursion is carried out in small groups, carefully and sustainably, with respect for nature. We work directly with the Cape Verdean nature conservation authority and receive permission from them to carry out excursions on certain sections of the beach. The majority of the tour fee is paid to the nature conservation authority and used to protect the breeding grounds on the beaches. Our guides are certified and have extensive knowledge, which is conveyed in an appealing and comprehensive manner.

You will be picked up from your holiday hotel at around 6 p.m. After about an hour's drive we will reach the beach area and once there you will receive interesting information in German about the sea turtles. We will look out for loggerhead turtles for you and as soon as we see them, the position of the turtle will be reported by radio. Then we will set off and we can carefully approach the turtles. We will walk a few meters along the beach, which requires physical fitness. Ideally we will experience the entire egg-laying process up close. Cameras are allowed, but please no flash or any bright light. Depending on when we see the first turtles or the first egg-laying, we will return to your hotel between 11 p.m. and midnight. Please wear closed shoes, wear light, long clothing and remember to take mosquito repellent. Please also take something to drink with you.
